Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Execute EW’s strategy, content, and audience development on social platforms in collaboration with EW’s Social Media Director and video, edit, and sales teams
  • Develop and strategize for emerging platforms; produce social-first or social-only original franchises including short or platform-specific video series
  • Secure social content from photo shoots, red carpets, and other exclusive opportunities; conduct interviews on- and off-camera
  • Conceptualize, shoot, and edit high-performing video content optimized for each platform independently
  • Support EW partnerships such as award shows, tentpole events, parties, panels and screenings; capture and quickly turn around high-quality video content from these events
  • Work with SEO, growth, and audience analysts to understand and strategize audience expansion and translate data into editorial guidance as needed
  • Work Sunday-Thursday and be able to work independently during the Sunday shift

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2-5 years of digital and/or social media experience, preferably with at least one major role at a news organization
  • Proven ability to build and grow audiences for entertainment content via social media, particularly among younger audiences
  • Impeccable news judgment, prioritization, writing and editing skills
  • Calm under pressure of breaking news
  • A strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask
  • A strategic thinker who considers analytics before making decisions
  • An idea generator who can think of new, fresh ways to package content
  • Excellent people skills
  • Experience with SEO, content management systems, analytics tools, Photoshop

Preferred

  • Experience with Google Analytics and other analytics tools
  • Ability to translate data into easy‑to‑understand editorial guidance on an hour-by-hour or daily basis as needed
