Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Establish a functional initial campaign within the first 45 days, and eventually implement an email marketing foundation that is scalable and includes templates and basic segmentation.
  • Support the implementation of at least one lead capture initiative tied to paid marketing efforts, contributing to measurable email list growth.
  • Successfully launch and maintain a welcome email series to engage and nurture new subscribers.
  • Maintain a consistent email cadence of 1–2 emails per month, ensuring content is valuable, relevant, and aligned with the organization’s mission.
  • Establish baseline performance metrics (open rate, click-through rate, engagement trends) within the first 3–6 months and use them to guide future improvements.
  • Maintain healthy email performance benchmarks over time (e.g., 20–30% open rates and 2–4% click-through rates, depending on list quality).
  • Contribute to improving subscriber engagement through thoughtful content, improved targeting, and gradual optimization.
  • Support fundraising and awareness initiatives through strategic email communication, without sole responsibility for revenue generation.
  • Aim for an unsubscribe rate of 0.3% through improved content relevance, personalization, and frequency management.
  • Enhance the overall quality, clarity, and professionalism of email communications to reflect the organization’s values and build trust with subscribers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in email marketing, preferably in a non-profit or healthcare organization.
  • Proficiency in email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, Mailerlite, Constant Contact, etc...
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with email marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Knowledge of email marketing best practices, CAN-SPAM Act, CASL, and other relevant regulations.
  • Experience with HTML/CSS and email template design is a plus.
  • Passion for pets and commitment to the mission of the Pet Cancer Foundation.
