Job Summary

Own external communications and community-building efforts to amplify K-Dense in AI-for-science conversations, coordinating content, events, and grassroots engagement with researchers and AI builders.

  • Community Engagement: Identify and participate in AI-for-science dialogue on LinkedIn, X, Reddit, and other communities to spark grassroots engagement and highlight relevant content.
  • Science Communications: Research and write technical posts, notes, blogs, and newsletters to educate and engage researchers about K-Dense.
  • External Programs & Events: Support panels, dinners, lab visits, and university talks, handling logistics and content shaping as you grow.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • You\'ll work closely with leadership to support external communications, build online and real-world communities, and introduce K-Dense to scientists, researchers, and AI builders.
  • There are two main pillars of this role: Community engagement and Science communications; you\'ll identify and engage in grassroots engagement with users, author, share and highlight relevant content, and write short technical posts, research notes, and newsletters.
  • The remainder is varied and may include research on where AI-for-science conversations happen, event support, and feedback on existing external comms efforts (website and social media).

Requirements

  • Able to commit to 20 hours/week for three months minimum.
  • You must be able to commit to hours on our core working days: Tue-Thu 8am - 6pm PDT.
  • This is a remote first role with on-site opportunities for local candidates.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • K-Dense does not sponsor employment visas for this role.
  • F-1 students working under CPT or OPT are welcome to apply.
  • Masters students in Science journalism or science communication programs; STEM masters who write seriously alongside the technical work.

Preferred

  • Have quality writing samples. Blog posts, papers, student journalism, your Substack.
  • Technical comfort with reading academic papers and following conversations between researchers; comfortable using AI tools for basic tasks.
  • Self-direction and proactive work style; ability to spot what needs doing and start quickly.
  • Comfort being public-facing; your name will appear on posts and you may attend events and speak on social media.
