Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Will re-establish relationships with producers after BMPs are on the ground and projects are completed to assess how installed practices are being maintained and determine if new practices or changes need to be made.
  • The Publications Coordinator is responsible for creating, designing, and ensuring a quality final product of all assigned departmental publications to include informational or marketing flyers, brochures, newsletters, advertisements, publications, etc. The Publications Coordinator performs project management services from inception to final print or publication of product, including managing to a prescribed budget.
  • Writes, drafts and/or edits, and submits for final approval for departmental publications.
  • Edits all elements for style, substance and organization. Reorganizes text to create consistency in grammar, format, and message. Recommends substantive editorial changes as needed.
  • Reviews, proofs, and checks all copy.
  • Serve as liaison to contributors and others directly involved in the published work; solicits and edits submissions and advertisers and ensures deadlines are met.
  • Conceptualizes format and design of the publication.
  • Responsible for editing website page with graphics and content.
  • Performs detailed layout, graphic design, and desktop publishing services.
  • Maintains mailing lists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Five years of job-related experience.
  • Proficient agricultural and agronomic background.
  • Sound understanding of the Nutrient Management Law, Right to Farm Law, Clean Streams Law, and available cost-share programs.
  • Knowledge of agricultural conservation practices (form and function).
  • Knowledge of how to design and implement conservation practices to control erosion.
  • Knowledge of Clean Streams law
  • Knowledge of Department of Environmental Protection regulations.
  • Knowledge of mapping and project management database programs (i.e. PracticeKeeper, ICIS).
  • Strong familiarity with TR-55 Watershed modeling

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Resource Management, or related field.
  • Knowledge of state, local and federal laws.
  • At least two years of writing or publishing experience.
