Job Summary

Own PR momentum by shaping compelling client narratives, transforming breaking news and culture into positioned angles, and leading targeted media outreach to secure regular coverage across tech, business, and new media.

  • Develop timely pitches and angles that spotlight clients against rivals, including in fast-moving news and culture moments.
  • Drive outreach, build smart lists, and collaborate with account leads to deliver consistent, standout placements.
  • Shape PR strategy, spot optimization opportunities, and stay ahead of industry trends to grow client impact.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop pitch topics and news angles that position clients sharply against their competitors, whether they’re the challenger or the one being challenged, and turn breaking news, holidays, and pop culture into moments for clients to shine
  • Write compelling, concise pitches that break through cold, plus press releases and content for funding announcements, product launches, and milestone moments
  • Run targeted media outreach across tech, business, and new media, and land consistent coverage (we aim for a hit every couple of weeks per client)
  • Build smart media lists and know the difference between the reporter, the editor, and the contributing editor
  • Partner with account leads on day-to-day client work, building strong relationships and contributing to the kind of service clients tell their friends about
  • Oversee speaking opportunities and awards, as appropriate, for each account
  • Support the development of PR strategy and plans, with room to take on more account ownership as you grow
  • Proactively spot opportunities to sharpen client results and bring new angles to the table
  • Keep up with each client's industry, competition, and coverage, and stay on top of PR trends and the goings-on of the internet

Requirements

  • 4+ years in public relations (or journalism), with startup or high-growth agency experience strongly preferred. Startup PR is where you learn to find the story when a client swears they have no news, and that instinct is the core of this job, no matter the size of the client.
  • Excellent writing, full stop. The ideal Specialist knows how to say A LOT with a little. As Coco Chanel's publicist supposedly said, "Before you send the pitch, look at the draft and take one thing out." Brevity wins. Self-editing is mandatory.
  • A real knack for angles. You can look at a client with "no news" and find three ways in.
  • Strong cold-pitching skills and a track record of landing top-tier placements and trade coverage.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, pivots, and the "build the plane while flying it" pace our clients run on.
  • Self-starter energy. We're remote-always and a small team, so we hire people who know what to do and go do it.
  • Openness to growing into client-facing work over time (a desire to, eventually, is a plus).
  • A desire to plant roots and grow with a rapidly scaling team.

Benefits

  • Take time off when you need it. No accrual, no tracking, no guilt. The only rules: give us reasonable notice, make sure your accounts are covered, and read the room (mid-campaign crunch is not the moment). Plan ahead and it's almost always a yes.
  • 15 paid federal holidays
  • Two full weeks of paid agency closure, where we all log off together so nobody comes back to a pile of unanswered Slack messages
  • Discretionary profit sharing at year end, because when Notably does well, you will too
  • Company-funded 401(k) contributions
  • Employer-sponsored medical and dental insurance
