Job Summary

Own the Student Affairs marketing and communications engine, shaping annual plans and cross-department collaboration to boost awareness of opportunities for students and the campus community.

  • Own day-to-day marketing operations and coordinate cross-department collaboration to raise awareness of student opportunities.
  • Develop and execute annual marketing plans across web, social, print, and outreach to enhance the student experience.
  • Lead marketing activities for a 50% FTE team and build strong working relationships with divisions across Student Affairs.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Support the mission of Student Affairs by providing marketing and communication services that ensure future students, current students, faculty/staff, and the Washington State University community are aware of opportunities that enhance the student experience.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day marketing and communication operations.
  • Develop and implement annual marketing plans.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with departments within the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Be responsible for 50% FTE staff who are involved in marketing and promotional activities.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, or related field; OR Four years of writing/editing experience; or equivalent education/experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, OR related field AND one (1) year of writing/editing/public relations experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, OR related field AND three (3) years of writing/editing/public relations experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated experience planning and implementing marketing, communications, and promotional strategies using a variety of channels and mediums including web, social media, print advertising, promotions, outreach, and public relations.
  • Demonstrated experience writing professional communications pieces including newsletters, press releases, articles, and blogs.
  • Proven ability to generate innovative ideas and implement them into creative marketing strategies.
  • Master’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field.
  • Experience training and directing the work of other employees.
