The Boys' Latin School of Maryland

Boys’ Latin is Maryland’s oldest independent, non-sectarian college-preparatory school for boys. Since 1844, Lakers have embodied the Latin motto, Esse Quam Videri (to be, rather than to seem). For students, faculty and staff, that means pushing beyond what seems sufficient to others and seeking true excellence in ways measured by deeper insights, extra steps, harder decisions, and ultimately, greater impact. By understanding how boys learn best, Boys’ Latin’s talented faculty fosters enduring personal relationships and empowers each student to strive for success in their academic and personal pursuits.
