Job Summary

Own end-to-end manuscript development and act as the primary client strategist, guiding insights, briefs, and content across market access narratives while ensuring regulatory alignment.

  • Lead client discussions and gather insights
  • Translate complex data into persuasive, design-ready manuscripts
  • Ensure scope, timelines, and MLR compliance

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary day-to-day client contact, building trusted relationships and anticipating client needs
  • Lead client discussions to gather insights, clarify objectives, and pressure-test requests before work begins
  • Distill client requests — often ambiguous or high-level — into precise, actionable briefs and content direction for manuscript development and the creative team
  • Manage client expectations proactively around scope, timelines, feedback cycles, and MLR requirements
  • Provide “on-the-spot” content recommendations in client meetings, backed by market access expertise
  • Identify opportunities to expand and deepen client engagements
  • Work closely with designers and production teams to ensure copy and visuals integrate seamlessly for maximum impact
  • Work closely with agency project management and traffic team to manage timelines and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects with minimal oversight
  • Serve as the “Strategic Guardrail” during the creative process, ensuring that design elements enhance rather than distract from the core access message
  • Interpret and apply strategic inputs from clients and consulting teams to develop brand narratives that resonate with payer stakeholders

Requirements

  • 5–8+ Years of Healthcare Communications : Proven, verifiable track record in pharmaceutical or healthcare messaging, with deep roots in Market Access, Payer Marketing, or HEOR communications — this role requires established expertise, not on-the-job learning of the fundamentals
  • Client Management Experience : Demonstrated success owning client relationships in an agency or consultancy setting, including translating loosely defined client asks into structured briefs and deliverables
  • Entrepreneurial Self-Sufficiency : A self-starter who operates with urgency and minimal direction, comfortable with ambiguity, and accountable for outcomes from kickoff through delivery
  • Exceptional Manuscript & Writing Skills : Ability to serve as a “Strategic Storyteller,” with a portfolio demonstrating the ability to turn complex pharmaceutical data into persuasive, clear, and audience-appropriate content — and to structure that content into design-ready manuscripts that art and production teams can execute against
  • Data Translation Expertise : Mastery in interpreting clinical data, health economics, and policy shifts, with the ability to translate these “strategic inputs” for non-clinical payer and provider audiences
  • U.S. Payer Landscape Literacy: A functional understanding of the U.S. reimbursement ecosystem, including formulary decision-making, PBM dynamics, coding/billing pathways, and value-based messaging
  • Creative Collaboration : Experience partnering with art directors, designers, and digital production teams to develop integrated campaigns where copy and visuals work in tandem
  • MLR & Technical Proficiency : Deep experience navigating the Medical/Legal/Regulatory (MLR) review process, including working competency within the Veeva Vault platform for submissions and markups
  • Regulatory Rigor : Solid working knowledge of industry compliance standards, including fair balance, ISI requirements, referencing standards, and the distinction between promotional and non-promotional materials

Preferred

  • Educational Background : Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Life Sciences, Marketing, or Journalism; an advanced degree (MPH, MS, MBA, or similar) is highly regarded
  • Agency or Consultancy Experience : Prior experience in a fast-paced agency or strategic consultancy, featuring the confidence to lead client discussions and provide “on-the-spot” content recommendations
  • Startup Agility : Comfortable operating in a “scrappy,” high-growth, or small-agency environment where adaptability is key, deadlines are often tight, and everyone contributes beyond their job description
  • Operational Excellence : Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage the nuances of multiple concurrent projects without losing sight of the strategic “big picture”

Benefits

  • 401k - generous employer match with immediate vesting and financial planning resources
  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage options effective day 1 of employment
  • Flexible spending account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Company paid insurances including Short- and Long-Term Disability and Life insurance as well as additional voluntary options
  • Paid parental leave for all new parents
  • Health & Wellness Benefit (e.g., gym memberships; $1000 reimbursement annually)
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Generous paid time off including vacation, sick days, floating and company holidays
