In 1954, the Chattanooga DuPont Plant was one of southeast Tennessee’s largest employers, hiring people from all over the tri-state region. On February 26, 1954, the Chattanooga DuPont Nylon Employees Credit Union was organized and chartered. Purpose: This position exists to serve the members of Scenic Community Credit Union and work to achieve the established goals of this Credit Union. The position exists within Branch Operations (Ooltewah Branch) and is an integral part of the daily operations and success of the Credit Union. Job Tasks Include: 1. Conduct consumer loan application interviews in person, by telephone or other means as needed. 2. Verify accuracy of and input consumer loan applicants’ information into the core system to create a loan application for each applicant. 3. Submit loan applications for decisioning to a Loan Officer with applicable lending authority. 4. Prepare consumer loan documents for member signatures for loans to be funded and obtain signatures as needed for each loan. 5. Fund consumer loans and disburse loan funds as appropriate for each loan. 6. Perform quality control of funded consumer loans by reviewing data in the core system and the signed loan documents. Contact lending personnel and/or members to correct loan documents as needed. 7. Perform the imaging of loan documents into the Credit Union’s core system and ensure the readability of each imaged document. 8. Assist with ensuring that all motor vehicle titles and UCC-1 forms securing collateral are accurate and recorded to ensure that the Credit Union’s lien is guaranteed. 9. Generate and send adverse action notices and notify member of loan decision. 10. Generate and send welcome letters and marketing materials to new and existing members. 11. Perform general clerical duties including filing, copying, answering telephone calls, sending, and responding to correspondence including emails and online messages. 12. Complete annual training courses assigned to the position. 13. Be knowledgeable of and adhere to the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Federal Truth in Lending Act, and other applicable federal and state lending laws. 14. Be knowledgeable of and adhere to the policy and procedures of the Credit Union 15. Open new accounts and assist members in updating current accounts, problem resolution, and notarizing documents. 16. Actively and professionally keep members informed of credit union services and cross sells various products and services. 17. Assist members in filling out various forms. 18. Perform file maintenance and account changes as needed. 19. Research and resolve member complaints and errors on member’s account. 20. Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management that are considered necessary or needed in the promotion and continuance of the Credit Union and are job related. Qualifications: Skills and Other Requirements SCCU requires that candidates for this position possess: High School Diploma or equivalency required. An Associate Degree or higher in a Business-related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education. A minimum of three years of banking experience with relevant work experience in consumer lending or other related industry preferred. Excellent member service skills, with a high degree of professionalism and a positive demeanor. Working knowledge of SCCU’s core system is desirable. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to quickly learn various Credit Union-specific software applications. Working knowledge of Credit Union laws and regulations, specifically related to the documentation and servicing of new accounts and consumer loans is desirable. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a multitude of assignments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining quality in the work. Ability to maintain positive interactions and confidentiality with members, coworkers, and department team members. On October 27, 1997, our East Brainerd office was opened in the Concorde Centre, Soddy Daisy on February 1, 2007, and in November 2011 we celebrated the opening of our Ooltewah office. Beginning June 2015 we proudly became Scenic Community Credit Union.We are a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution. Members elect a volunteer board of directors to oversee the Credit Union, and because members own SCCU, members have a say in how we do business.
