Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Digital Media Forensics Team Support shall provide support for CI and CT investigations; research, design, deploy, and lead training events; evaluate emerging forensic technologies; provide operational security assessments and support cyber forensic and cyber security tasks.
  • The analysts will combine computer science with forensic skills to recover information from computers and storage devices to recover data like documents, photos, and e-mails from computer hard drives and other data storage devices that have been deleted, damaged, or otherwise manipulated.
  • The analyst uses forensic tools and investigative methods to find specific electronic data, including Internet use history, word processing documents, images, and other files.
  • They use their technical skills to hunt for files and information that have been hidden, deleted or lost.
  • They help officials analyze data and evaluate its relevance. The analyst may also use their expertise to protect computers from infiltration, determine how a computer was broken into, or recover lost files.
  • The analyst creates detailed notes on processes undertaken and develops intelligence-based reporting.
  • The analyst may also provide testing and evaluation of emerging trends in digital forensics software and hardware and assist in developing new and innovative forensic processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma: 20 years of relevant experience with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years. OR Associates Degree: 17 years of relevant experience with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years. OR Bachelors Degree: 15 years of relevant experience with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years. OR Masters Degree or higher: 12 years of relevant experience with at least a portion of the experience within the last 2 years.
  • A minimum of 2 years of host based forensic experience and must have DoD Certified Digital Forensic Examiner (DFE). Individuals without DFE certification must obtain one within one year during the Period of Performance.
  • The Digital Media Forensics Team as a whole must possess the following qualifications Digital forensic certification, such as: Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), or GIAC Certified Forensic Examiner (GCFE), or EnCase Certified Examiner; and 2 years of mobile device forensics. Certification through the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners (ISFCE) or the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) is preferred.
