Responsibilities

  • Department Operations & Workflow • Serve as the operational center of the department: own the content calendar, intake governance, vendor coordination, and day-to-day prioritization • Establish and enforce brand standards, editorial quality, and production workflows across all channels • Build and maintain Asana (or equivalent) project structures that give the team – and the CMCO – real-time visibility into what is in progress, what is blocked, and what is coming • Manage relationships with external vendors including photographers, videographers, PR partners, and design contractors • Identify and eliminate recurring bottlenecks; build sustainable process fixes that don't require heroics to maintain
  • Media Relations · Develop and execute media relations strategies that support the Chamber's priorities and reputation. · Manage proactive media outreach, press inquiries, monitoring, and rapid-response communications. · Serve as the Chamber's spokesperson during major announcements, issues management, and crisis communications. · Provide strategic communications counsel to executive leadership and support CEO messaging, board presentations, public statements, and thought leadership. · Identify opportunities for earned media, speaking engagements, awards, and public visibility.
  • Brand, Content & Channel Strategy · Lead integrated content strategy across email, web, social media, video, and earned media. · Oversee the creation of compelling content that supports policy initiatives, membership engagement, events, advocacy efforts, and organizational priorities. · Ensure consistent messaging and visual brand standards across all communications and member-facing materials. · Partner with internal departments to translate complex policy and business initiatives into engaging content for a variety of audiences.
  • AI Tools & Systems Infrastructure • Own the department's AI tooling strategy: govern prompt standards, build reusable workflows, and train team members to use AI tools as force multipliers • Develop and maintain AI-assisted content templates for recurring formats that reduce production time without sacrificing quality • Identify automation opportunities across the content lifecycle – from intake to scheduling to reporting – and implement them in partnership with IT and the CMCO • Stay current on emerging communications technologies and translate relevant developments into practical team capabilities
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration · Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and development for the Marketing & Communications team. · Foster a collaborative, process-driven culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. · Support hiring, onboarding, and professional development as the department grows. · Serve as the primary marketing and communications partner for Membership, Programs, Policy, Events, and executive leadership, ensuring projects are prioritized and executed effectively.

Requirements

  • 6–9 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or integrated brand strategy, including at least 2 years in a senior leadership or department operations role.
  • Demonstrated success managing integrated marketing and communications programs, content strategy, workflow systems, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience leading media relations, advising executive leadership, and serving as an organizational spokesperson.
  • Experience working with chambers of commerce, nonprofit organizations, associations, public affairs organizations, or other mission-driven institutions is preferred.
  • Experience managing creative, PR, digital, and production vendors.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills across a variety of audiences and formats.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with project management platforms such as Asana, Airtable, Notion, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or similar platforms to improve content development and workflow efficiency.
  • Working knowledge of email marketing platforms, content management systems, social media management tools, and analytics platforms.
