Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and execution of a strategic communications plan that supports Viridian’s business objectives and strengthens corporate reputation
  • Drive external communications strategy and execution, including corporate message development, media relations, thought leadership, and digital content development
  • Lead media engagements and manage media agency partners, ensuring high-quality execution and alignment with strategic priorities
  • Provide strategic communications support to the executive team, including consistent and timely communications during key business milestones, internal and external events, and issues or crises
  • Oversee content development for corporate website and social media channels, ensuring alignment with brand standards, strategic priorities, and audience needs
  • Lead internal communications initiatives that ensure employees are informed, inspired, while reinforcing Viridian’s mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure clear, consistent, and aligned messaging across all stakeholders
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure all internal and external communications align with corporate policies and/or regulatory requirements, enabling the delivery of effective and compliant messages to all audiences

Requirements

  • Requires 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, ideally within the biotech or life sciences sector
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Degree in communications, journalism, English, or related discipline preferred
  • Proven track record of developing and executing integrated communications strategies in high-growth, pre-commercial or commercial-stage biotech environments
  • Demonstrated success in both internal and external communications functions in a fast-paced, evolving organization
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editing skills with an ability to translate complex science into accessible, compelling messaging
  • Strategic thinker with strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Comfortable engaging with senior executives and managing communications at the highest levels
  • Experience managing vendors, external partners, and media relations
  • Strong commitment to ethical standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.) and communications tools such as Canva, intranet platforms, email marketing tools, and digital signage applications
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
