Job Summary

Own multi-year flag football comms and media strategy, aligning youth to international growth with special focus on Olympic pathways and high-visibility events.

  • Own long-range plan and cross-stakeholder storytelling across youth, scholastic, community, elite, and international levels.
  • Lead media relations, executive visibility, and crisis prep around LA28, Brisbane 2032, and flag inclusion efforts.
  • Coordinate on-site media ops, event storytelling, and partner-facing materials for flag showcases and NFL tentpole moments.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop a multi-year communications plan to grow flag football across youth, scholastic, community, elite, and international levels.
  • Lead storytelling, media relations, executive visibility, and issues prep tied to LA28, Brisbane 2032, and Olympic inclusion.
  • Create advocacy materials and stakeholder messaging to support NFHS and state associations, including announcements and media assets.
  • Drive proactive press strategy across national, local, youth/scholastic, community, lifestyle, sports business, and international media.
  • Partner with Football Operations, International, Marketing, Social, Player Engagement, Legends, Clubs, and external partners across the flag ecosystem.
  • Lead communications planning and on-site media operations for flag showcases, championships, clinics, activations, and NFL tentpole events.
  • Develop message guides, press materials, briefing docs, FAQs, social inputs, and partner-facing assets aligned with league style and terminology.
  • Establish communications KPIs, track performance, report progress, and maintain talking points, hold statements, Q&As, and response plans for flag-related issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years in communications, public relations, media relations, or sports communications.
  • Proven success building strategies that drive awareness, engagement, participation, or business outcomes.
  • Strong media relationships and experience with narrative development, executive communications, and spokesperson prep.
  • Experience leading communications planning, press ops, and on-site media for major events.
  • Ability to translate research, participation trends, insights, and metrics into clear stories.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and composure in fast-paced, high-visibility settings.

Preferred

  • Experience in sports, youth programming, community impact, or major events.
  • Familiarity with schools, state associations, clubs, leagues, or governing bodies.
  • Passion for growing youth participation and expanding access and pathways for athletes.
