Job Summary

Lead regional research and community-building in identity verification and financial crime, turning policy and regulatory shifts into market-ready insights.

  • Own and publish regional research outputs and host events to establish Shufti as the technically authoritative voice.
  • Must-have: A portfolio of published work and a track record building professional networks.
  • Standout: Active engagement with regulators, think tanks, and law-enforcement partners.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Produce 3-5 research outputs quarterly: whitepapers, threat intelligence briefs, benchmark studies, and co-authored papers on topics including deepfake detection, document fraud trends, address verification, digital identities, AI-generated identity threats, and cross-border KYC challenges.
  • Use Shufti Pro’s proprietary verification data (230+ countries, 10,000+ document types) combined with external datasets and academic literature to produce work that others cite.
  • Author bylined articles and opinion pieces for industry publications, establishing yourself — and by extension Shufti — as the technically authoritative voice in your region.
  • Develop regulatory intelligence briefs, translating policy changes into actionable content for customers and the sales team.
  • Build and animate a regional network of academics, former regulators, compliance officers, fraud analysts, and identity practitioners who actively engage with Shufti’s research and events.
  • Organise and host roundtables, closed-door briefings, webinar series, and working groups that bring your community together around shared problems — with Shufti as the convener.
  • Manage relationships with co-research partners: university labs, think tanks, and independent researchers who collaborate on joint studies and lend institutional credibility.
  • Build a presence in regional professional communities (LinkedIn groups, Slack communities, industry associations, conference circuits) where your target audience already gathers.
  • Create feedback loops between your community and Shufti’s product and sales teams — surfacing market intelligence, customer pain points, and competitive signals from your network.
  • Represent Shufti Pro in regulatory and standards-body conversations in your region: FATF consultations, NIST testing programs, FCA Sandbox discussions, OpenID Foundation working groups, and regional equivalents.

Requirements

  • A portfolio of published work that others reference: peer-reviewed papers, industry whitepapers, policy briefs, or influential long-form analysis. You don’t just write — people read what you write.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain professional networks: you have organised events, convened working groups, built research collaborations, or animated professional communities.
  • Strong understanding of the identity verification, KYC/AML, and fraud prevention landscape in your region — the regulatory frameworks, the technology, and the people who matter.
  • Experience engaging regulators, standards bodies, law enforcement, or government agencies in a professional or research capacity.
  • Ability to translate complex technical and regulatory concepts into compelling content for both specialist and executive audiences.
  • Comfort with commercial accountability: you understand that research and community exist to drive measurable business outcomes, not just academic citations.

Preferred

  • Existing publication record in areas adjacent to our domain: biometric detection, content moderation, platform governance, financial crime, digital identity, or AI safety.
  • Established network of academic, regulatory, or practitioner contacts in your region that you can activate from day one.
  • Experience with computational methods: quantitative text analysis, ML model evaluation, dataset bias analysis, or network analysis.
  • Familiarity with analyst relations (Gartner, Forrester) or experience contributing to industry evaluations.
  • Multilingual capability (Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, French, or German strongly valued for regional roles).
  • Track record of building or contributing to industry communities, professional networks, or practitioner groups.
