Job Summary

Own the cross‑channel storytelling engine for Ocean Conservancy’s PWWP, turning science and tentpole moments into emotionally resonant content that travels from social posts to live events and partner campaigns.

  • Tentpole ownership: plan and produce content for major sporting events, summits, and cultural moments that amplify PWWP narratives.
  • Real time and evergreen assets: create assets that maximize reach during and after tentpole activations.
  • Cross‑team and ambassador collaboration: coordinate with Brand, Digital, Development, Science, and ambassador networks to capture on‑the‑ground moments and align messaging.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce high-quality content across formats—social media, email, long-form editorial, video scripts, campaign copy, partner toolkits, and more—that advances the PWWP narrative
  • Translate Ocean Conservancy’s science and policy priorities into accessible, emotionally resonant stories for sports and culture audiences
  • Write and edit content in a range of voices, from ambassador-facing social posts to partnership announcements and event recaps
  • Support development of content series, editorial calendars, and campaign frameworks anchored to key tentpole moments
  • Lead content planning and production for PWWP’s tentpole activations, including major sporting events, races, summits, and cultural moments (e.g., SailGP Race Week, Green Sports Alliance Summit, GOAL Forum, LA28 arc) and Ocean Conservancy’s tentpole activations (Earth Day, National Ocean Month, Plastic Free July, etc.)
  • Develop real-time and evergreen content assets to maximize reach and engagement around tentpole events
  • Coordinate with partners, ambassadors, and event teams to capture and amplify on-the-ground moments
  • Coordinate with cross departmental teams including Brand, Digital, Development, and Science teams to capture and amplify key messaging and narratives that drive engagement on all Ocean Conservancy channels
  • Build out post-event content recaps, highlight packages, and impact storytelling
  • Collaborate with Ocean Conservancy’s ambassador network—including Team Ocean Captains—to co-create authentic content that reflects their voice and platform

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in content creation, editorial, or digital communications—ideally in a nonprofit, sports, entertainment, lifestyle, or cause-driven organization
  • Proven ability to produce compelling content across formats: social, long-form, video scripts, email, and campaign copy
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt voice and tone across audiences and channels
  • Experience developing content for tentpole moments, live events, or campaigns with real-time production demands
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, content management systems, and digital publishing workflows
  • Basic visual skills—comfort with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Capcut, or equivalent tools to concept and produce assets
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines simultaneously
  • Collaborative and proactive—comfortable working across departments and with external partners
  • Proficiency with tools like Microsoft Office, Asana, and Zoom
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field preferred.

Preferred

  • Experience in sports, outdoor, entertainment or lifestyle content and familiarity with sports and culture audience dynamics
  • Background in cause marketing, environmental communications, or advocacy content
  • Experience working with ambassador or influencer programs
  • Familiarity with video production workflows (i.e. Riverside)—from scripting through post-production coordination
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and content optimization for organic search
  • Experience with analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Sprout Social, native platform insights)
