Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead & manage the Museum’s digital presence across multiple platforms, working independently to create and distribute content; in particular, expand the organization’s presence on underutilized platforms
  • Manage and update a comprehensive content calendar to ensure the timely and relevant delivery of content.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to amplify events, programs, and initiatives across media channels
  • Maintain e-distribution lists and write and distribute Museum electronic communications
  • Maintain Museum’s website, including writing and updating content.
  • Regularly follow and report on content metrics and recommend strategy adjustments as needed
  • Write and edit public-facing communications, including press releases, email newsletters, blog posts, reports, and web copy
  • Research and generate original content for stories and articles
  • Cultivate relationships with local, regional and national media outlets and maintain of appropriate media contact lists
  • Assist marketing consultant with placement of advertisements as needed

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in communications, media, marketing, or related roles—preferably within nonprofit organizations
  • Strong design sense and ability to deliver clean, brand-consistent writing, editing, and storytelling content with a sharp eye for detail (work samples required)
  • Strong social media strategy and content development experience
  • Proficiency with Canva, Constant Contact, Smartsheet, and major social platforms
  • Confident project manager with the ability to juggle competing priorities under deadlines
  • Must be collaborative, resourceful, and comfortable working directly with executives, partners, and volunteers
  • Experience with press outreach, earned media, or public relations a plus
  • Must be available to work full-time on-site at our location in Mumford

Preferred

  • Experience with video production or photography considered a plus
  • Familiarity with museum or cultural sector audiences
