Responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategies across various communications and marketing platforms to achieve the City’s goals
• Lead crisis communications as Public Information Officer, handling sensitive topics and collaborating with the Police Department’s PIO when needed
• Communicate on behalf of the Mayor and manage media inquiries and responses
• Oversee the production of a quarterly print magazine
• Manage a multi-layered marketing campaign including digital and print media, ad placements and media buys within NEO and key markets nationwide
• Supervise a staff of three and oversee a budget of nearly $1M
• Serve as a member of the Management Team, report to the Mayor and the Chief Administrative Officer
• Oversee social media, electronic communications, and websites; stay current with evolving platforms and technology
• Attracting and retaining residents through comprehensive communications and marketing efforts

Requirements

• Leadership experience
• Demonstrated confidence and skill as a writer
• Media relations experience
• A deep and demonstrated understanding of the history of Shaker Heights and its current initiatives
• Commitment to respectfulness, fairness and professionalism
• Experience and comfort with social media, electronic communications, and websites
• Willingness to stay current with evolving platforms and technology
• Supervise a staff of three? (implicit requirement to manage staff)
