Job Summary

Own Prairie United Methodist Church communications by producing a weekly newsletter, worship materials, website updates, and social content in collaboration with staff and volunteers, while managing deadlines and print/digital materials.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Create and distribute the weekly email newsletter using content provided by the pastor, staff members, and ministry leaders.
  • Format, produce, and print the weekly worship bulletin.
  • Prepare weekly ProPresenter slides for Sunday worship, including scripture, song lyrics, sermon images, and other worship elements.
  • Maintain and regularly update the church website, including information about worship, programs, events, and other offerings.
  • Create, schedule, and publish content for the church’s social media platforms, primarily Facebook and Instagram.
  • Create occasional promotional graphics or advertisements for special services and events.
  • Design, print, and coordinate occasional mailings, including postcards, letters, brochures, and congregational notices.
  • Assist with the annual stewardship campaign in collaboration with the pastor and Director of Fellowship Ministries. Responsibilities may include developing a theme and logo and producing pledge cards, letters, and related print or digital materials.
  • Produce congregational name tags as needed.
  • Use the church database to prepare mailing lists and labels.

Requirements

  • Strong written communication and proofreading skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage recurring weekly deadlines.
  • Comfort working collaboratively with staff members, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
  • General proficiency with computers, websites, and online communication platforms.
  • Experience using social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
  • Basic graphic-design ability and an eye for clear, attractive visual communication.
  • Willingness and ability to learn the church’s communication systems and procedures.
  • Commitment to supporting the inclusive mission and values of Prairie United Methodist Church.

Preferred

  • Mailchimp or another email-marketing platform.
  • Canva, Adobe products, or another graphic-design platform.
  • Website content-management systems.
  • ProPresenter or other worship-presentation software.
  • Social media scheduling and digital advertising.
  • Preparing print materials and bulk mailings.
