Job Summary

Drive social media content creation and audience engagement for St. Olaf’s collections/events as a Student Employee.

  • Own content creation end-to-end (text, photos, video) and maintain an educational, approachable voice.
  • Must-have: detail-oriented, self-motivated, fluent in social media with image/video editing skills.
  • Standout: collaborate with Museum Director, Collections Manager, and student team to surface timely, news-worthy content.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Creates dynamic written, photographic, graphic, and video content that supports FAM’s mission and vision
  • Maintains a voice that is knowledgeable, friendly, and open with content that is educational and informative
  • Attends FAM openings and special events to gather content
  • Responds to comments and questions on the platform in a timely manner, and engages across other social media channels as relevant
  • Analyzes and reports audience information and demographics, and success of existing social media projects
  • Proposes new ideas and concepts for social media content
  • Uses timelines and scheduled content to create a consistent stream of new content
  • Regularly interfaces with Museum Director and Collections Manager, as well as other FAM student employees to stay abreast of news-worth activity

Requirements

  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, initiates tasks without being asked
  • Curious and eager to learn about new topics related to collections and exhibitions
  • Demonstrated proficiency with image editing, photo editing, and basic video skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Fluency with social media

Preferred

  • Graphic design skills desired
