Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Associate Director of Marketing and Student Engagement provides strategic leadership for all marketing, communications, brand management, and student engagement initiatives within Dining Services.
  • This position is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive approach to how Dining Services is experienced, communicated, and promoted across campus, while also leading engagement and communication strategies for a large student workforce of over 200 employees.
  • This role leads integrated marketing, digital presence, and engagement programming that enhances student participation, strengthens brand identity, and connects dining operations to the broader campus experience.
  • The position also establishes structured communication and engagement approaches that support student employee training, improve retention, and enhance the overall student employment experience.
  • The Associate Director serves as the department’s lead for marketing strategy, storytelling, and engagement initiatives, and collaborates closely with Dining leadership to ensure alignment between communication, student workforce engagement, and operational priorities.
  • Two Senior Dining Managers will report to this position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Any one or combination totaling eight (8) years (96 months) from the categories below: Coursework in business, dietetics, culinary arts, food science, nutrition, hospitality, hotel, catering, restaurant, or institutional management, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months); Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months); 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months); Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
  • Food service management work experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in food service administration, institutional food services, dietetics, marketing, business administration or related field
  • Five years' experience in Marketing, Food Service Management, and direct supervision in a Higher Education Dining atmosphere.
  • Resourcefulness in meeting a variety of challenges in customer service, employee training, project management and efficient management of a service institution. Experience with Union Contracts preferred.
