Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and fundraising strategies that align with organizational priorities, advance mission goals, and strengthen engagement across key audiences.
  • Lead annual campaigns, fundraising appeals, stewardship communications, and donor engagement initiatives that support long-term relationship building and philanthropic growth.
  • Oversee brand strategy, messaging, and organizational storytelling to ensure a consistent and compelling presence across all communication channels.
  • Monitor campaign performance, analyze engagement data, and use insights to optimize strategies, improve constituent experiences, and increase fundraising outcomes.
  • Manage the marketing budget, vendor relationships, and external resources to support effective and efficient execution of engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement multi-channel engagement strategies that guide constituents through meaningful journeys, from initial awareness and connection to participation, advocacy, and philanthropic support.
  • Leverage CRM and email marketing platforms to create targeted communications, audience segments, automated constituent journeys, and measurable engagement campaigns.
  • Supervise and mentor marketing staff.
  • Establish departmental priorities, workflows, and performance expectations.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across print, digital, social media, email, website, and public relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Fundraising, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, community engagement, or a related field.
  • Funnel Economics. Demonstrated experience developing and executing annual marketing calendars designed to drive target audience engagement across multiple campaigns, communication channels, and touchpoints, with the ability to coordinate messaging, timing, and priorities to support overarching marketing goals.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated, multi-channel marketing strategies that support organizational goals, increase engagement, and strengthen relationships with key audiences.
  • Performance Marketing. Experience developing audience strategies, constituent journeys, and targeted communications using CRM and email marketing platforms.
  • Experience supporting fundraising campaigns, donor communications, stewardship initiatives, and engagement strategies.
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy (including evolving that strategy and voice), storytelling, and creating compelling content across multiple communication channels.
  • Experience managing projects, timelines, budgets, vendors, and multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience providing leadership, guidance, or supervision to staff, contractors, or project teams.
  • MarTech & Analytics. Ability to analyze campaign performance, interpret engagement data, and use insights to improve marketing and fundraising outcomes in a timely manner.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a nonprofit, cultural, environmental, educational, or community-based organization.
  • Experience with nonprofit CRM and email marketing platforms, including Raiser’s Edge and Emma, or similar donor management and marketing automation systems.
  • Experience creating automated email journeys, audience segmentation strategies, and targeted communications based on constituent data.
  • Experience developing donor appeals, stewardship communications, and fundraising engagement campaigns.
  • Experience using analytics, reporting tools, and campaign insights to inform strategy and improve engagement outcomes.
  • Experience supporting community partnerships, public relations, events, visitor engagement, or mission-based programming.
  • Experience managing creative vendors, contractors, or external marketing partners.
  • Must be able to travel to and from our Cornell Campus and throughout the Portland Metro region, even when public transit is not an option.
