About Float

Float is cash flow management software for finance teams. It connects to accounting software and turns live transaction data into a rolling cash flow forecast, showing where your cash is heading so you can make decisions with confidence.

Our customers use Float to maintain cash forecasts, explore scenarios and understand the financial implications of their plans. As their businesses become more complex, we’re continuing to evolve how Float supports their cash management and decision-making.

We’re looking for a Product Marketing Manager to help shape this next stage. Working closely with Product and our commercial team, you’ll bring customer insight into product development, build compelling value propositions and take significant product developments and accounting integrations to market.

Why join Float now

This is one of the most exciting times in Float’s journey.

We’ve built a product customers trust and a reputation we’re proud of. Now, the possibilities for what we can build – and how we build it – are changing rapidly. AI and agents are reshaping how software is developed, how teams work and what customers can expect from the products they use.

We believe this change creates an extraordinary opportunity to deliver more value to our customers. We’re ambitious about where Float can go, curious about what’s becoming possible and hugely excited about the work ahead.

We’re hiring this role with that future in mind. You’ll help shape how we gather feedback, develop our messaging and bring the next version of Float to market. You’ll join a small, highly experienced team with the appetite to experiment, the judgement to challenge assumptions and the compassion to support each other through change.

The role

You’ll own product marketing delivery, combining customer research and commercial judgement with strong writing and hands-on execution.

Your involvement will begin while new capabilities are taking shape. You’ll explore the decisions customers need to make, understand how they work today and test what they find valuable. You’ll turn that understanding into positioning, launch plans and communications that help customers understand, choose and get value from Float.

Working with our CMO, you’ll agree priorities and take responsibility for delivering them. You’ll work directly with our Head of Product, Product Designer, Sales Lead and Head of Customer Success.

This is an individual contributor role with meaningful ownership, support on strategic direction and the opportunity to influence both what we communicate and how we understand our customers.

What you’ll do

• Understand customers and the decisions they make: Build a regular programme of customer and prospect interviews, sales-call reviews and win/loss analysis. Explore workflows, buying triggers, alternatives and objections, including what prompts customers to change a forecast, investigate a cash movement or take action.

• Shape propositions throughout product development: Work with our Head of Product and Product Designer to identify and articulate the customer value of upcoming developments. Test propositions and explanations with customers to understand what resonates, what needs clarification and what gives people confidence to use a capability.

• Develop positioning and messaging: Develop clear propositions and messaging for priority audiences and use cases, working with the CMO on strategic positioning. Translate complex capabilities into credible customer benefits and keep messaging consistent across product pages, sales materials, partner listings and customer communications.

• Plan and deliver product launches: Own product marketing delivery for major product launches, from defining the audience and proposition through to launch communications, partner materials, internal enablement and evaluation.

• Create content that supports buying decisions: Write, edit and publish product, feature, integration and use-case pages, coordinating design and development support where needed. Create sales presentations, demo narratives, product explainers, competitor comparisons and objection-handling materials grounded in real customer conversations.

• Support partner marketing and customer adoption: Own product messaging and listing content across relevant marketplaces and partner materials. Support agreed partner launches, webinars and campaigns.

• Prioritise and evaluate your work: Agree a focused quarterly plan with the CMO, balancing commercial priorities with available capacity. Evaluate research, messaging, launches and enablement alongside shared conversion and adoption measures. Use the evidence to recommend what to improve, continue or stop.

What you’ll bring to the role

• Around three years’ experience in B2B software product marketing, or closely related work, and 5–10 years’ professional experience overall.

• Examples of customer research, positioning, launches or sales enablement that influenced decisions or results.

• Strong writing skills and the ability to make complex technology products understandable.

• Confidence interviewing customers, interpreting evidence and making practical recommendations.

• Curiosity about why customers behave as they do and how software can enable them to make progress in their working lives.

• Experience coordinating work across teams and adapting as product plans develop or change.

• Substantial hands-on experience using current AI tools and agents in your work, with examples of workflows you have built, improved and evaluated.

• A demonstrable track record of taking work from an agreed objective through to delivery and evaluation; planning the approach, making decisions, doing the work and taking responsibility for the results.

How we work at Float is evolving quickly, and AI tools and agentic workflows are already an important part of our day-to-day work. We’re looking for someone with substantial practical experience using them, who is curious about new possibilities and willing to share what they learn.

What is not essential

Experience with finance or accounting software, integration launches, content publishing or adoption communications would be valuable but not essential. A business or finance qualification is not a prerequisite for the role.

What is in it for you

A small, experienced team that cares

Most teams will say how great their team is, but at Float the majority of the team have been here more than five years. So we can genuinely say you’ll work alongside capable, thoughtful people who bring deep experience to their work and care about doing it well. We share what we know, help each other solve problems and take time to understand how our colleagues are doing. Compassion is one of our core values, and it shapes how we work together. We hire carefully, so we get this right, and you’ll notice.

Trust, autonomy and support

We agree on clear priorities and give people ownership of their work. We welcome questions, talk openly about challenges and adjust when priorities or workloads need attention. We want you to feel supported, challenged and able to do work you’re proud of.

Working at Float

We believe good work and a full life outside work belong together.

Our hybrid approach brings us together one day per week in our office space in Edinburgh’s West End, with flexibility to work from home the rest of the week. We have a team lunch every other Thursday, and there’s unlimited espresso coffee in the office.

Full-time roles are 37.5 hours per week. We value focused work and sustainable workloads, and recognise that appointments, caring responsibilities and everyday life sometimes need flexibility.

Flex Fridays

Every other Friday is a Flex Friday: an opportunity to work a little differently. You can use the time for focused, distraction-free work, learning and professional development, or to create additional space for personal commitments, appointments and exercise.

Benefits

• Company pension: we’ll match your contributions up to 5%.

• 34 days’ paid holiday, including bank holidays, increasing by one day per year up to 39 days.

• A four-week paid sabbatical in your fifth year, in addition to your normal holiday allowance.

• Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave.

• Discounts and offers through our Perks scheme (see perksatwork.com for details).

Everyone should feel welcome

Different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives help us make better decisions and build a better product.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and want our recruitment process to give you a fair opportunity to show what you can bring. If you need adjustments at any stage, please let us know so we can discuss what would help.

How to apply

Send your CV and a short note telling us why this role appeals to you to jobs@floatapp.com. We’d love to see an example of product marketing work you’re proud of, whether that’s a launch, messaging you created or a piece of customer research. Links are fine.

Closing date: Monday 7 December. We may close earlier if we receive a high volume of applications, so we’d encourage you to apply soon.

What to expect

• Intro call (30 minutes): a relaxed chat with Peter Graham, our CMO, about you, the role and Float.

• Meet the team (45–60 minutes): a conversation with Peter and Graeme, our Head of Product, about your experience and how you work.

• Task and presentation (60 minutes): a shortlist of candidates will be invited to carry out a short, practical exercise based on a real Float scenario, which you’ll present and discuss with us. We’ll keep it focused and respectful of your time.

• Final conversation: time with Colin, our CEO, and a chance to ask anything.

We aim to get back to everyone within two to three working days of each stage.
