Job Summary

Own the organic strategy across multiple brands, lead AI search, oversee cross-channel content, build and own an audience, and design the SEO team while ensuring alignment with PPC and product.

  • Own organic strategy with measurable revenue targets
  • Build and lead the SEO team across in-house and agencies

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Own the organic strategy across our brands. You’ll set targets based on funeral and funeral plan sales and revenue, not just rankings, and prove impact through incrementality testing.
  • Lead the way on AI search. You’ll define how our brands show up in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and track how often we’re cited and how accurately.
  • Oversee content across every channel. That covers the website, organic social and YouTube, with content built on the real expertise of our funeral directors, celebrants and planning specialists. It’s the kind of content generic AI answers can’t replace.
  • Build an audience we own. You’ll turn visitors into people we know and help them, from planning ahead to arranging a funeral and remembering someone, so no single platform controls how families find us.
  • Build the team. You’ll design the SEO team structure from the ground up, across in-house roles, agencies and AI-powered workflows, then lead and develop the people in it.
  • Work hand in hand with PPC, brand, product and engineering. You’ll make sure organic, paid and brand work together, and that every new site and product launches ready for search.

Requirements

  • You’re a senior SEO or organic growth leader with a track record of growing sales and revenue, not just traffic.
  • You’ve worked both in-house and agency side, and you have a strong point of view on where organic is heading.
  • You’re commercially minded and confident explaining the impact of SEO to finance and senior leaders.
  • You’ve worked in B2C, close to real customers. Experience in financial services, insurance, healthcare or another high-trust, regulated category would be a real plus, as would multi-brand or multi-site SEO.
  • You’re hands-on with AI tools in your everyday work, and excited by what they make possible.
  • You’d rather build something new than tweak what already exists, and you’re comfortable working on content about death and funerals.

Benefits

  • Time to recharge - 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, giving you the space to maintain balance and sustain performance.
  • Rewarding your impact - Opportunity to earn up to 10% annual bonus, aligned to business performance and your contribution.
  • Healthcare for you and your family - Private medical cover for you, offering reassurance and quick access to treatment when it matters most.
  • Planning for your future - 4% matched pension contribution to help build long-term financial security.
  • Enhanced peace of mind - Life assurance cover at 2x your salary to provide additional protection for your loved ones.
  • Everyday savings and perks - Access to MyStaffShop, our employee rewards platform, with savings across high street and online retailers.
  • Support when you need it - 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, occupational health services and confidential counselling.
  • Supporting your growth as a leader - Ongoing leadership development and long-term career progression opportunities within a national organisation.
  • Additional wellbeing benefits - Including eyecare support, flu jab reimbursement and lifestyle discounts.
  • Making work easier - Free on-site parking available at most of our locations.

Dignity exists to help every family in Britain navigate the hardest moments of life with simplicity, dignity, kindness and exceptional care. Our vision is to become the UK's leading end-of-life company, supporting one in three families across the UK in planning for and dealing with death. This is what makes Dignity such a compelling place to join, and why the timing matters. We are not simply improving an existing business; we are reshaping and building a modern, end-to-end platform that supports families through every stage of need: wills, funeral plans, funerals, probate, cremations, burials, and memorialisation. We are moving from transactional interactions to trusted, lifelong relationships, using data, technology, service design and brilliant people to create a simpler, more human experience at scale. We are at a defining moment in our history. A strategic reset, stronger foundations, and new leadership have created real momentum and, with it, a genuine opportunity not just to transform Dignity but to set a new standard for the whole sector. The funeral industry has historically moved slowly. We are changing that. This is a business with the scale to matter, the ambition to lead, and the courage to challenge how things have always been done. The direction is set. The platform is being built. What we need now are the leaders to drive it forward. We move with pace and intent, and we're building a team that reflects that. People here are given real responsibility early on, work closely with colleagues across the business, and see the impact of their work. If you want to grow quickly, be part of something genuinely meaningful, and work with people who take their craft seriously, this is a compelling place to build a career.
