Job Summary

Own fast turn edits for political content, from long-form to social, with newsroom-like sourcing and strict pacing in a downtown DC office.

  • Own high-signal edits from raw footage to publish-ready social clips across vertical formats.
  • Source timely footage from daily news cycles and ensure accuracy, pacing, and platform-optimized cuts.
  • Translate messaging from communications teams into visually compelling videos that drive engagement.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Edit full-length podcast episodes for YouTube, including multi-cam setups, graphics, and audio cleanup
  • Transform scripts and messaging guidance from our communications teams into visually compelling content that aligns with project goals
  • Edit political ads and short-form narratives, optimizing pacing and aspect ratios for everything from web and TV to TikTok and Reels
  • Cut down long-form interviews (1.5+ hours) into tight, narrative-driven 1-4 minute videos as well as distinct social clips
  • Monitor the daily news cycle to rapidly source footage and produce timely, relevant content that stops the scroll

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional video editing or production experience
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop
  • Ability to source news footage, clean and mix dialogue, and color-correct for web and social
  • Genuine interest in politics and current events. You follow the news closely and understand the context behind what you're editing
  • Strong familiarity with vertical video formats, platform trends, and what is actually breaking through in today’s media environment
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to be in our downtown DC office five days a week. This is not a remote or hybrid role.

Preferred

  • Physical production experience, including filming, lighting, and camera operation
  • Comfort using AI tools to speed up and sharpen production workflows
  • Background in political campaigns, advocacy, journalism, or media
