Job Summary

Own the core narrative and media-driven visibility for a national Children’s Funding Project, coordinating executive communications, digital presence, and cross-functional content to translate policy complexity into actionable public outcomes.

Media & Thought Leadership: Build national voice through CEO communications, spokesperson readiness, and reporter relationships.
Content & Digital Execution: Oversee website, social, and campaigns to support policy change and coalition growth.

Job Description

Strategy: Steward communications strategy with defined goals, audiences, priorities, and measures of success to advance visibility, legitimacy, and momentum.
Narrative: Promote a unifying national narrative about directing public funding to children that bridges policy complexity and public understanding and connects organization-level and initiative-level communications.
Executive Comms: Invest in and oversee executive communications, including thought-leadership support for the CEO and other key leaders.
Operations: Drive continuous improvement of communications operations, including simplified approval pathways and decision-making thresholds that enable speed without sacrificing quality.
Delivery: Shift communications capacity from process management toward proactive content production, executive visibility, and media engagement.
Media: Develop and implement a proactive media strategy that positions Children’s Funding Project and its leadership as national thought leaders, including message development, media training, press materials, and relationship-building with reporters and outlets.
Digital: Oversee Children’s Funding Project’s digital presence, including website, email, and social media channels, and guide careful social media expansion for key initiatives such as the Fund IRL social media coalition and the Native Children’s Funding initiative.
Impact: Ensure that major communications initiatives and campaigns support real-world action—such as policy change, ballot measures, coalition growth, and community wins—and elevate local champions and success stories.
Content: Oversee and contribute to organization-wide efforts to plan, produce, and disseminate Children’s Funding Project’s content and products, balancing quality, efficiency, and amplification of high-value content.
Integration: Partner with the Communications Director and program leaders to integrate communications into the design of content, courses, and learning tools, recognizing communications as central to teaching and capacity-building for communities.
