Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Distill complex scientific and technical content into clear, digestible summaries for non-technical audiences
  • Translate lab work and research outputs into compelling marketing narratives that highlight real-world impact and results
  • Draft content for social media, website updates, one-pagers, and internal communications based on lab activities
  • Partner with Communications to align messaging with ITA’s “technology-enabled professional services” positioning
  • Identify key takeaways, metrics, and success stories from lab work that can be used for external storytelling
  • Support development of visuals (simple graphics, charts, or concepts) that help communicate technical ideas more clearly
  • Ensure consistency in tone, branding, and messaging across all materials before passing to communications department for finalization
  • Perform other administrative and laboratory duties, as required:
  • Assist with planning or setup of experiments
  • Organize and analyze data using software such as Microsoft Excel
  • Generate reports and presentations to explain research findings
  • Assist in product design and refinement
  • Coordinate delivery of samples to Virginia Tech campus laboratories for analysis

Requirements

  • Pursuing degree in digital design, marketing, industrial engineering, or related field.
  • Prior experience drafting compelling marketing materials, preferably in a scientific setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work across teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
