ABOUT THE ROLE The Structural Design/Packaging Engineer I position applies foundational structural design and packaging engineering knowledge to support the development of effective packaging solutions and prototypes. This role is ideal for an individual with strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a desire to continue developing knowledge of design principles, manufacturing processes, and material applications. Artistic aptitude and design skills contribute to efficient workflows and quality outcomes. This position works closely with Sales, Project Management, and Production teams to ensure prototype accuracy, meet project timelines, and support customer requirements. The individual will have the opportunity to build knowledge of production methods and manufacturing efficiencies while communicating project status, design updates, and potential issues clearly and promptly. RESPONSIBILITIES Develop structural packaging designs and 3D CAD files based on customer requirements, project specifications, and established design standards. Apply foundational packaging engineering principles to support functional, manufacturable, and cost-effective packaging solutions. Assist in incorporating manufacturing efficiencies and material considerations into structural designs. Create, modify, and maintain CAD files, die-lines, and related electronic assets to support prototype and production activities. Review structural design files and electronic assets for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements. Support pre-production reviews by verifying die-line and structural assets prior to production release. Maintain accurate project documentation, revision records, and archives in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements and company procedures. Communicate effectively with Sales, Project Management, Production, and other cross-functional teams regarding project status, design updates, and technical requirements. Participate in troubleshooting design and production issues and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Demonstrate a developing understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and packaging production methods. Ensure assigned work is completed accurately and within established timelines. Follow all company safety, quality, and operational policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent. Basic knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, Artios 3D CAD, and CIMEX Packaging CAD software. Knowledge of die construction methods and repair is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook Understanding of prepress software and workflow. Technical knowledge of finishing manufacturing and print production preferred. Bachelor’s in design, engineering, or relatable degree preferred, and/or equivalent experience. This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
