Job Description

Strategic Results is seeking a Strategic Communication Outreach Specialist to support the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Office of Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T) in planning, developing, and executing strategic communications and stakeholder outreach activities. The Strategic Communication Outreach Specialist will collaborate with Government staff and technical subject matter experts to communicate transportation research, technology initiatives, and program accomplishments through a variety of communication channels and outreach products.

The ideal candidate is a creative and collaborative communications professional with strong writing and interpersonal skills who can develop messaging, coordinate outreach activities, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support FHWA's research and technology transfer mission.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist in developing and implementing strategic communications and outreach plans that support FHWA research and technology initiatives.

· Develop communication products that effectively communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.

· Draft newsletters, announcements, success stories, fact sheets, briefing materials, talking points, articles, and other outreach materials.

· Coordinate communication activities that promote research findings, events, publications, and program initiatives.

· Work with technical subject matter experts to develop accurate, audience-appropriate messaging.

· Support stakeholder engagement activities by coordinating communication materials and outreach efforts.

· Assist with planning and promoting meetings, workshops, webinars, conferences, and other outreach events.

· Coordinate communication activities across multiple projects to ensure consistent messaging and branding.

· Support development of website content and digital communications in coordination with project teams.

· Monitor communication schedules and assist in tracking outreach activities and deliverables.

· Coordinate reviews and approvals of communications products prior to publication or distribution.

· Collaborate with writers, editors, graphic designers, web specialists, and multimedia staff to produce integrated communications products.

· Maintain communication files, outreach records, and project documentation.

· Recommend improvements to communication strategies, messaging, and stakeholder engagement activities.

Qualifications

Required:

· Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field, and 6+ years of experience.

· Demonstrated experience developing communications materials for multiple audiences.

· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Experience coordinating multiple projects and meeting established deadlines.

· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred:

· Experience supporting Federal Government communications or outreach programs.

· Experience communicating technical, scientific, engineering, or research-related information.

· Familiarity with digital communications and website content development.

· Experience supporting meetings, conferences, workshops, or stakeholder engagement activities.

· Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility considerations for communications products.
