Responsibilities

• Manage complex strategic communications planning and execution, using every lever together: earned media, social, events, executive visibility, and non-traditional media such as podcasts, newsletters, and online video.
• Oversee day-to-day account work and make sure deliverables are high quality, including strategic plans, messaging frameworks, press releases, talking points, presentations, Q&A documents, and briefing memos.
• Help clients through moments of transition, such as fundraising, IPO readiness, leadership changes, and shifts in business model or technology.
• Show how communications drives business results, and help clients think about how their communications function should evolve.
• Use your understanding of emerging-technology companies to help clients stay ahead of market trends.
• Serve as a reliable, adaptable resource for senior team members, and lead and develop the people working with you.
• Partner with Teneo senior management and other Teneo divisions to identify client needs and deliver integrated solutions.
• Bring new ideas to how the team works, including using AI tools to improve quality and speed.
• Represent Teneo in the Bay Area business community and help build our presence and reputation.
• Foster a team culture where quality and client satisfaction come first.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience managing complex communications programs across stakeholder groups within technology, media, financial services, or healthcare.
• Experience counseling senior executives and working with external financial and legal advisors.
• A strong network and understanding of both traditional and non-traditional media.
• A track record of building or improving something, such as a team, process, program, or system.
• The ability to think creatively, approach communications from new angles, and handle both day-to-day account work and one-off client requests.
• Curiosity about AI and hands-on use of AI tools in your work.
• Comfort with the pace and ambiguity of a growing office.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Available to work from Teneo's San Francisco office at least three days a week.
• Experience in technology, media, or fintech, especially with mid- to late-stage startups preferred.
