Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Identify, manage and deliver opportunities for the firm to elevate its profile and reputation in the market through media coverage and other external communications channels;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant reporters and editors;
  • Take the lead on drafting and editing of PR and communications materials, including press releases, pitches, media briefings, messaging, Q&As and presentations;
  • Build and nurture effective relationships with partners and other key stakeholders;
  • Prepare partners and other stakeholders for media engagement, including developing materials such as briefings, key messages and talking points;
  • Assist and support senior members of the communications team with issues management;
  • In conjunction with senior team members, provide regular oversight of and guidance to external PR agencies in their efforts to support the firm, practices, and the communications team more broadly;
  • Coach junior members of the communications team;
  • Work beyond normal business hours, as needed;
  • Additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 10+ years of experience in public relations, preferably within legal or professional services (required). PR agency experience a plus
  • Proven experience managing PR strategy across multiple jurisdictions in the United States; Global experience a plus
  • Significant media relations experience essential; strong existing legal and business media relationships desired
  • Demonstrated success developing and implementing PR plans and activities, and securing high-profile media coverage
  • Ability to influence and build trust with individuals at all levels of an organization, including senior and executive level personnel; and
  • Experience with issues management and ability to remain calm and clear-headed when responding to media attention involving sensitive topics.
