We are seeking an experienced Associate Director, Global Medical Communications to support a leading biopharmaceutical organization within the Gastroenterology (GI), IBD therapeutic area.
This is a highly visible strategic role within Global Medical Affairs, responsible for leading global medical communication plans, scientific content strategy, congress activities, HCP education initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration across key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of global medical communications strategy for GI/IBD assets
- Drive scientific communication planning across product lifecycle and launch readiness
- Develop and oversee medical content including core slide decks, scientific platforms, communication plans, and educational materials
- Support congress planning, symposia, medical booths, and webinars
- Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Publications, Regulatory, Legal, Commercial, HEOR, and regional teams
- Lead Medical/Legal/Regulatory review of promotional and non-promotional materials
- Ensure compliant, accurate, and ethical scientific communications
- Manage vendors, timelines, budgets, and forecasting for assigned programs
- Mentor junior team members and influence within a matrix organization
Required Qualifications
- Advanced healthcare/scientific degree preferred: MD, PharmD, PhD, MS, RN or related field
- 5+ years biopharma experience (doctoral degree) OR 7+ years (master’s degree)
- Strong experience in Medical Affairs / Medical Communications
- Expertise developing scientific communication materials and strategies
- Experience with MLR / material review processes
- Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior Gastroenterology / IBD experience
- Global Medical Affairs experience
- Congress strategy/execution experience
- Launch or lifecycle management experience
