Job Description
What you will do:
At Stryker, strong employee communication helps connect people to what matters most — linking key business priorities to the work happening every day to drive meaningful progress. As our Senior Communications Specialist within our Corporate Communications team, you’ll help employees understand strategy, navigate change and see how their work contributes to our shared success.
In this role, you’ll primarily support functional communications — working closely with our functional communications leaders and other key stakeholders to deliver clear, actionable messaging tied to business priorities and projects. You’ll also play a part in shaping enterprise employee communications, strengthening alignment and engagement across a global workforce of more than 50,000 employees.
The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator who can move quickly, prioritize effectively and translate complex needs into compelling employee communications — while serving as a trusted advisor on the best path forward.
Create and execute strategic communications plans for functional priorities and projects in partnership with functional communications leaders and other team members.
Provide strategic counsel to stakeholders on channel, timing and audience strategy to maximize relevance, clarity and engagement, while aligning to enterprise standards and minimizing unnecessary volume or duplication.
Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and help shape communication approaches that drive alignment, understanding and action.
Support or lead communications planning for change and priority initiatives — including time-sensitive needs requiring rapid-turn deliverables aligned to business priorities — sequencing messaging thoughtfully to reduce fatigue and increase clarity for employees.
Partner across functions, regions and communications teams to align messaging, identify communication opportunities and share best practices.
Drive consistency in messaging, tone and channel use across functions and regions by reinforcing enterprise communication standards.
Provide channel support for newsletters, SharePoint, emails and meetings.
Translate performance analytics into actionable recommendations that strengthen employee understanding, engagement and action.
Champion the Stryker brand by applying brand standards, voice and principles consistently across communications and day-to-day work.
Adapt communication approaches for diverse employee audiences, including manufacturing, office-based, remote and field-based employees.
Stay ahead of emerging trends and communication technologies, and identify, pilot and recommend new approaches that improve reach and effectiveness.
What you need:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree required.
2+ years of communications-related work experience required.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field preferred.
Exceptional writing and editing skills with eye for detail; knowledge of AP Style preferred (writing assessment will be required).
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office 365 applications.
Familiarity with communication tools and platforms a plus (SharePoint, Viva Engage, Marketo or other email marketing tools, etc.).
