Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Set and deliver the paid acquisition strategy. Own the plan for subscriber and revenue growth across Paid Search and Paid Social, balancing acquisition volume, efficiency, and long-term subscriber value.
  • Own investment planning and forecasting. Lead annual, quarterly, and monthly paid media planning, budget allocation, and performance forecasts at vertical level as well as the individual event level. Build scenarios that clarify expected returns, tradeoffs, and risks, and adjust investment as conditions change.
  • Provide deep Paid Search leadership. Set account and campaign standards across Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising. Personally audit and optimize account structure, keyword coverage, bidding, budgets, and conversion performance.
  • Lead through direct involvement. Manage and develop a small team of channel managers. Establish clear ownership and quality standards, review execution, and step in to build, launch, troubleshoot, or optimize campaigns as business needs require.
  • Direct investment across the sports portfolio. Anticipate seasonal demand and major events, assess opportunities across verticals, and make timely decisions about where to scale or reduce spend.
  • Strengthen measurement and decision-making. Partner with Business Intelligence and Finance to connect paid media investment to subscriber growth, revenue, retention, and lifetime value. Use attribution and incrementality evidence to assess returns and inform allocation.
  • Set the testing agenda. Prioritize experiments across channels, bidding, audiences, creative, landing pages, and offers. Define success criteria and investment thresholds before expanding promising approaches.
  • Build reliable operating practices. Establish forecasting, reporting, campaign QA, launch readiness, and escalation processes that help a small team execute consistently. Plan coverage for major events, including occasional weekend and holiday monitoring.
  • Lead AI adoption within paid media. Prioritize opportunities to improve planning, execution, and optimization through AI. Work hands-on with your team and technical partners to develop and implement solutions, establish quality checks, and scale approaches that deliver measurable value.
  • Drive cross-functional action. Partner with Integrated Marketing, Product Marketing, Creative, Lifecycle, Content, and Product to address campaign needs and conversion barriers. Ensure commitments, decisions, and launch status are communicated clearly.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in performance or acquisition marketing, with a strong record of owning paid media strategy, investment, and measurable B2C growth.
  • At least 3 years of direct people-management experience leading and developing a small team, including junior marketers, while retaining hands-on campaign responsibilities.
  • Deep, recent hands-on expertise in Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising. You can independently audit an account, build or restructure campaigns, diagnose performance problems, and implement improvements.
  • Strong Paid Social expertise, particularly Meta, with the ability to guide strategy and directly evaluate or improve campaign execution.
  • Proven ownership of substantial paid media budgets and the ability to build credible forecasts, assess investment scenarios, and make allocation decisions across competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated judgment in scaling acquisition while maintaining efficiency, including knowing when additional spend is unlikely to generate sufficient incremental return.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying opportunities for AI and turning them into working tools or workflows that improve paid media operations and results. You have personally built solutions or worked directly with team members or technical partners to develop, validate, and implement them, with measurable impact. Examples include budget allocation tools, keyword builders, campaign QA, and performance diagnostics. Experience should extend beyond native advertising platform features such as Performance Max or automated bidding.
  • Strong command of attribution, customer acquisition cost, return on ad spend, and customer lifetime value, including the limitations of platform-reported performance.
  • Experience translating complex performance data into clear recommendations and influencing decisions with senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • A track record of improving team performance through coaching, prioritization, clear standards, and personal involvement in execution.

Preferred

  • Experience in subscription businesses, streaming, digital media, sports, or another highly seasonal business.
  • Experience allocating investment across multiple brands, product lines, or customer segments.
  • Experience designing incrementality tests or applying media mix modeling findings to budget decisions.
  • Current or previous Google Ads and/or Microsoft Advertising (Bing) certifications; active certification is not required.

Benefits

  • Recognized three years in a row as a Top Workplace by the Austin-American Statesman
  • Flexibility at work - you can take control of your profession and personal schedule
  • All-hands events hosted in beautiful Austin, Texas
  • Annual equity awards for all top performers
  • Competitive and comprehensive medical, dental and vision plans
  • Peace of mind through company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability and life insurance
  • Generous 401(K) company match vested immediately
  • Progressive parental leave policies
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Hack-a-thons and a full calendar of team-building and social events
