Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Senior Director, Communications leads NobleReach’s communications strategy with a direct focus on enhancing the organization’s brand and reputation and driving executive visibility and thought leadership. This role owns the development of a consistent, strategic narrative across the organization and serves as a senior communications counsel to the executive team, shaping how they are positioned externally through media, speaking opportunities, and thought leadership platforms. The Senior Director also leads media relations efforts and elevates the public positioning of NobleReach and its mission.
  • Oversee the organization’s media strategy, including press releases, statements, and rapid response to media inquiries, escalating sensitive matters to the CMO, Staff Counsel, and the CEO as needed
  • Provide strategic guidance and message alignment to department leaders as they execute internal communications; this role sets the strategy and reviews for consistency but is not responsible for drafting all internal communications content
  • Protect and elevate the organization’s brand, ensuring all communications reflect its values and mission
  • Lead and mentor communications staff and coordinate with retained communications or PR consultants as needed
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging communication channels, recommending where NobleReach should invest its voice next

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field (master’s degree preferred)
  • 12+ years experience in a communications role, including direct experience supporting C-suite or executive thought leadership
  • Proven track record building executive visibility programs – speaking engagements, bylines, media placements – for a senior leader
  • Superior writing ability in a journalistic style customary for corporate and external publications
  • Established media relationships and sound judgment advising senior leadership on media strategy, including in sensitive or crisis situations
  • Experience developing and maintaining an organization-wide messaging framework across multiple departments and audiences
  • Demonstrated fluency using AI tools to accelerate the communications cycle, including drafting and iterating on bylines, talking points, and messaging frameworks, synthesizing research and stakeholder input, and pressure-testing arguments before they reach an external audience, with clear judgment about where human voice and editorial review are non-negotiable.
  • Experience building repeatable AI-assisted workflows that scale a small comms function, such as capturing an executive's voice and point of view so drafts land closer to final, monitoring media and policy conversations for openings, and standing up prompts or templates the broader team can reuse.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with corporate management, employees, media, and the larger community
  • Thorough understanding of market developments, communications strategies, and practices

Preferred

  • Experience at a start-up organization, government contractor, or government agency is a plus
