Position Summary
This position will be responsible for all activities for the procurement, design and implementation for the new Bus Radio System (BRS). This includes coordinating with the Construction and Development department on the design build of the Department of Buses new radio system including radio and data communications technologies, subsystems functions and ensuring performance and test procedures are conducted as per contract requirements. This position will also ensure vendor complies with all specifications outlined in the contract. Assist in the development of test procedures to include identifying critical tasks and functions of the system. Ensure that training requirements including training manuals and training sessions are conducted and completed as required. Serve as the technical expert for the department for the new Bus Radio System.
Responsibilities
- Review technical documents relating to radio and data communications technologies. Provide assessments, comments, and recommendations regarding Bus Radio System Project submittals. Act as the liaison for all technical meetings and ensure that DOB requirements for operational use of the new systems are adhered.
- Provide technical direction and make recommendations on BRS Network implementation. This includes the review and approval of BRS subsystem functional and performance matrices.
- Review, comment and approve test procedures to ensure thoroughness and completeness and adherence to contractual requirements. Coordinate BRS radio and data network systems Phased Testing, Installation Testing and Functional Acceptance Testing.
- Review and verify BRS training courses and subject scope are complete in content and details to ensure completeness per contract requirements.
- Witness and audit BRS subsystems and system level testing to ensure functional and performance requirements are satisfied in accordance with contract requirements. Assist in the development of testing protocols and identifying criticality of systems.
Education And Experience
- Baccalaureate Engineering or satisfactory equivalent.
- Eight (8) years of related professional experience, including a minimum of four (4) years of supervisory/managerial experience.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of communication and data technologies. Network Engineer or Computer Engineer.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
