Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Independently gather and clarify communications requirements from Government stakeholders and translate them into actionable strategies, plans, and products aligned with AIT goals.
  • Develop executive-ready and tactical communications, including BLUFs, executive summaries, briefings, talking points, FAQs, email broadcasts, announcements, newsletters, job aids, web content, and campaign materials.
  • Plan and execute communications for IT maintenance, technology pilots, feature releases, service changes, and adoption initiatives, ensuring messages are accurate, timely, and appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Develop communications plans, messaging frameworks, audience and stakeholder analyses, channel strategies, content calendars, and rollout approaches.
  • Develop and optimize content for FAA digital platforms, including FAA's external and internal-facing websites, and web-based newsletters, using applicable user-experience, web-design, and digital-communications practices.
  • Translate complex technical and subject-matter-expert input into clear, actionable information for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Coordinate with Government stakeholders, technical teams, subject-matter experts, and graphic designers to develop content and integrate approved, accessible visual assets.
  • Manage communications through the established intake, drafting, validation, review, approval, routing, publication, and dissemination process.
  • Ensure products comply with FAA writing, branding, accessibility, quality-control, template, and version-management requirements.
  • Track suspense dates, reviews, approvals, publication status, and release channels while maintaining an auditable record and providing requested status updates and metrics.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • This position is remote, candidate must reside in one of the following states: AL, AZ, DC, FL, GA, ID, MD, MS, NJ, NC, OK, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, Information Technology, or IT Management.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive communications experience, including strategic communications experience in corporate and/or Government environments.
  • Demonstrated executive-level writing experience supporting senior leaders, including executive correspondence, briefings, and talking points.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating communications through formal approval chains, such as communications managers and public affairs or communications offices.
  • Experience supporting technology communications, IT service communications, or technology adoption and rollout initiatives.
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of plain language, audience targeting, and executive-ready formatting.
  • Strong solutions-oriented and advisory approach to communications.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in a related field, such as Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, Information Technology, or IT Management.
  • Previous experience supporting FAA or Department of Transportation organizations.
  • Familiarity with FAA or DOT internal communications channels and governance processes.
