Job Summary

Drive senior PR leadership for a boutique firm by building media relations, crafting high-impact pitches, and translating client goals into media strategies that gain traction.

  • Must-have: 5–8 years PR/communications experience and an active journalist network with recent wins.
  • Standout: Senior day-to-day client contact, translating goals into media strategies, and rapid-response capabilities.
  • Experience with media monitoring and reporting beyond clips, including sentiment and share of voice.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Build on and maintain an active network of journalist, editor, and producer contacts across print, digital, broadcast, and trade media
  • Proactively develop story angles and pitch clients to the right journalists at the right moment, with the instincts to know the difference
  • Draft compelling pitches, press releases, media advisories, and talking points that cut through the noise
  • Position yourself, and Negri Firman. as a trusted, reliable resource for media contacts across your beats
  • Monitor client press mentions across all channels in real time using industry-standard tools
  • Deliver regular coverage reports that go beyond clip counts: with strategic analysis of narrative trends, sentiment, share of voice, and what it all means for the client
  • Identify emerging storylines or reputation risks early and bring solutions, not just alerts
  • Serve as a senior day-to-day contact for clients, translating their goals into media strategies that get traction
  • Prepare clients for interviews, manage messaging consistency, and counsel on communications decisions
  • Handle multiple accounts with professionalism, responsiveness, and the calm that comes with experience

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of PR or communications experience; agency experience strongly preferred
  • A real, active journalist network (you should be able to name your contacts and have a recent pitch win to talk about)
  • Exceptional writing across all PR formats: pitches, press releases, and client communications
  • Experience with media monitoring platforms (Meltwater, Cision, Critical Mention, or equivalent)
  • Strong news judgment and the ability to move fast when a story is live
  • A collaborative, in-person mindset: someone who values the energy and speed of working shoulder-to-shoulder with a team
  • New York City-based and available to work in-office Monday through Friday

Preferred

  • Work closely with senior leadership on meaningful, high-profile accounts
  • A firm that values relationships — with clients, with media, and within the team
  • A true in-office culture where decisions get made, ideas get built, and careers move faster
  • Boutique environment where your work is visible and your growth is real
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and paid time off
