Position Overview:
The Senior Art Director at Spring Studios is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing large-scale campaigns and acting as a creative extension of our top-tier clients. With a deep understanding of the fashion, beauty, luxury and lifestyle sectors, the Senior Art Director ensures that every project not only meets but exceeds client expectations. The role is based in New York and works day to day with our US clients and productions, in close collaboration with our London and Milan studios. This role requires a balance of creative vision, strategic thinking, and leadership.
Spring Studios is building out its New York team, and this role sits at the centre of that. You will be joining at a point where the US structure is being defined, with real scope to shape the creative output of the New York office, supported by the wider Spring Studios group.
A little about you:
Flawless design sensibility, excellent typography/design skills, and conceptual design skills alongside robust conceptual and strategic thinking in relation to creative concepts.
Excellent presentational and communication skills with an ability to work well under pressure
Strong focus on the luxury/fashion/beauty industries
A strong presence on set with experience in leading large-scale physical and digital productions
Superior organization and time management skills
Excellent knowledge of design software including In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects.
At least 7 years in a creative agency or studio environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Creative Direction: Develop and articulate the creative vision for high-profile campaigns, ensuring that concepts resonate with target audiences and reflect the client’s brand identity.
Build Client Relationships: Act as a creative extension of our top-tier clients, building and maintaining strong relationships. Regularly communicate with clients to align on objectives, provide updates, and gather feedback, as well as offer proactive ideas for brand creative development.
Project Oversight: Oversee the end-to-end process of multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, ensuring that all creative deliverables meet deadlines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
Budget Awareness: Approach all projects with a clear understanding of the available budget and work collaboratively with the production team to provide cost-effective solutions to create standout work in line with the proposed concepts. Demonstrate awareness of the importance of staying within allocated budgets and guide the wider creative team in this thinking.
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide leadership and mentorship to Art Directors, Junior Art Directors, and Creatives. Offer guidance on creative direction, strategic thinking, and professional development. Conduct regular one-on-one check-ins to monitor progress and offer constructive feedback.
Decision-Making & Autonomy: Make informed decisions on project direction and execution, balancing creative innovation with client needs. Ensure that all decisions align with the brief, the overall creative strategy and the budget while seeking final approval from the Creative Director as needed.
Production Leadership: Lead large-scale productions, including photo and video shoots, ensuring all elements are aligned with the creative vision. Collaborate with production teams, directors, and other crew members to achieve the desired outcome.
Post-Production & Quality Control: Oversee post-production processes, including editing, retouching, and final asset delivery. Act as the final sign-off point for all creative outputs, ensuring consistency, quality, and brand alignment.
Strategic Input: Challenge briefs, timelines, and client requests when necessary, advocating for creative solutions that benefit both the team and the client. Use industry knowledge and strategic insight to suggest alternative approaches that enhance the project’s success.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including strategy, production, and client services, to ensure cohesive project execution. Foster a collaborative environment where ideas are freely shared and the best creative solutions are implemented.
Professional Conduct: Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and leadership, setting the tone for the creative team. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Compensation
Base salary: $120,000 to $140,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined by experience and qualifications.
