Recruitment & Training Coordinator (Service Year Position)

Reports to: Director of Partnerships and Recruitment

Job Summary

The Recruitment & Training Coordinator supports Thread's Recruitment team with expanding Thread’s presence and visibility in the community, helping potential volunteers get through the pipeline from identification to placement, and preparing for and execution of Intro to Thread — the training every new Thread volunteer completes before they begin. This role is a combination of engaging people in a variety of settings around Baltimore to introduce them to Thread, and handling logistical and administrative tasks to ensure that recruitment activities are planned well and executed smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Prospective Volunteer Communication & Support

  • Communicate with volunteers before and after sessions (reminders, follow-up, answering questions).
  • Support or co-facilitate portions of the training session.
  • Use the call campaign to call prospective volunteers and support them in completing an application
  • Follow up with Potential Volunteers who RSVPed Yes, but didn’t attend Intro (ongoing)
  • Check for holes in the pipeline: PVs who didn’t sign the waiver, didn’t fingerprint, or are “out of process”
  • Monitor the Volunteer@Thread email account daily (and additionally during the beginning of all Intro to Thread trainings)
  • Analyze survey results from training

Tabling and Presentation Support

  • Advertise Thread at community, university, and corporate events
  • Support with presentations at corporate, neighborhood, and university partners
  • Check city-wide and site-specific annual event calendars and registration deadlines for tabling

Training and Recruitment Materials Maintenance

  • Prepare training materials and handouts for each Intro to Thread
  • Organize and inventory Recruitment marketing supplies in the storage unit; Support with keeping flyers, t-shirts, and give-away stocked and organized

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and comfort coordinating logistics for events.
  • Comfort welcoming and communicating with new and prospective volunteers.
  • Reliability and attention to detail, given this role handles compliance-related paperwork (waivers, background check coordination).
  • Ability to regularly work evenings required; weekends desired.
  • Maryland resident, age 18+, and meets MC/SYO eligibility requirements (Service Year Option track: ages 18-24 with a high school diploma or equivalent; Maryland Corps track: any eligible adult 18+, no education requirement).
  • Able to commit to full-time service (30-40 hrs/week, generally Monday-Friday during business hours) for the full 9-10 month term, along with required MC/SYO professional development training.
