Job Description

Responsibilities

  • B2B Referral Hunting: Build highly targeted lists of local Bay Area news outlets, magazines, small business, schools, child advocacy centers, nonprofits, and other family facing brands.
  • Execute personalized, high-touch cold email/LinkedIn outreach.
  • Digital PR & linking building: Pitch our founder as an expert child sexual abuse advocate and renowned children’s book author.
  • Podcast Booking for grand opening: identify and pitch local Bay Area tri-state area podcasts or industry-specific shows (parenting, child sexual assault prevention, publishing, cultural, etc.) to book guest appearances.
  • Press releases for local media placement, schools, libraries, and parenting outlets.
  • Potential for ongoing collaboration as the company prepares product launches and announcements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in public relations, journalism, or strategic communications with a strong portfolio of successful campaigns.
  • Excellent writing skills with mastery of AP style for clear, concise messaging.
  • Strong media relations skills with established contacts preferred.
  • Ability to research effectively and craft compelling stories tailored to target audiences.
  • Someone with experience placing mission at the forefront of the tone.
  • Experience in editing, proofreading, and content writing across various formats including press releases and website content.
  • Familiarity with the publishing industry (particularly children’s books), nonprofits, family facing businesses, and e-commerce are a plus.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
