Responsibilities

• Support PR and community outreach efforts to increase awareness of Vaccine Vets across Los Angeles.
• Research local media outlets, journalists, community groups, pet organizations, neighborhood pages, and local event opportunities.
• draft press releases, media pitches, outreach emails, community announcements, and PR materials.
• Assist with outreach to local journalists, bloggers, influencers, pet communities, shelters, rescues, and neighborhood organizations.
• Help promote pop-up vaccine clinics through local media, community calendars, neighborhood groups, and online platforms.
• Identify storytelling opportunities around affordable pet care, preventive veterinary services, community health, and animal welfare.
• Support influencer and creator outreach for clinic visits, social media coverage, and local brand awareness.
• Organize media lists, outreach trackers, contact databases, and PR calendars.
• Monitor local press, social media mentions, community responses, and brand visibility.
• Attend clinics, events, or community outreach opportunities as needed to support PR, content gathering, and local relationship building.

Requirements

• Interest in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, media, community outreach, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write clear, friendly, professional, and community-focused messages.
• Comfortable researching media contacts, local organizations, neighborhood groups, and outreach opportunities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to organize contacts, outreach lists, and follow-ups.
• Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Google Maps, local community platforms, or online neighborhood groups.
• Must live in or near Los Angeles.
• Must have reliable transportation to travel to clinic locations and community events throughout the Los Angeles area.
• Weekend availability is required, as many clinics and community events take place on Saturdays and Sundays.
• Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and improve quickly.

Preferred

• Experience with PR, journalism, student media, campus organizations, community outreach, influencer outreach, or event promotion is a plus.
• Experience writing press releases, media pitches, newsletters, blog posts, captions, or outreach emails is a plus.
• Experience with local Los Angeles communities, pet-related organizations, shelters, rescues, or neighborhood groups is a plus.
• Familiarity with media lists, outreach tracking, Google Sheets, Canva, or basic social media tools is a plus.
• Interest in pets, animal welfare, veterinary services, healthcare, local businesses, or community-based marketing is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
