Job Description

Location: St. Petersburg, FL
Shift: Nights
Valpak is hiring a Printing Lead (Nights) to oversee press operations in our St. Petersburg Manufacturing Center. This role is responsible for leading the night shift, driving production performance, and ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency across the press area.
This is a hands-on leadership role—not a desk job.
You’ll be expected to lead from the floor, develop your team, and keep production moving.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead night shift press operations, ensuring production targets for quality, output, and delivery are met
  • Direct daily staffing, scheduling, and workflow within the press area
  • Coach, train, and develop operators and technicians to improve performance and skill progression
  • Own shift performance metrics and address gaps in real time
  • Ensure smooth shift-to-shift transitions through clear communication with other Leads
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, escalating when needed
  • Monitor print quality, including color approvals and specialty jobs
  • Partner with leadership on continuous process improvement (CPI) initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiency
  • Maintain accurate production data and reporting
  • Enforce and promote safe work practices and hold the team accountable
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members
  • Assist in developing work instructions (WIs) and job aids (JAs)
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of printing/manufacturing experience, with at least 2 years in a Lead or supervisory role
  • Strong working knowledge of heatset press equipment
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced production environment
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Experience with production systems (SAP preferred)
  • Ability to analyze data and make sound operational decisions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to hold others accountable
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Manufacturing environment with noise, heat, and moving equipment
  • Required use of hearing protection and PPE
  • Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs
  • Must be eligible to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license
