Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the firm's senior-most authority on brand and marketing strategy, advising the COO and practice group leaders on positioning, reputation, and go-to-market decisions that shape Invariant's growth.
  • Build and lead a growing marketing team, including a manager-level direct report who will manage the firm's day-to-day internal communications.
  • Lead initiatives that elevate the firm's external profile, including strategic partnerships, speaking opportunities, awards, content strategy, and industry engagement.
  • Guide the firm's internal communications program, directing a manager-level direct report on day-to-day execution.
  • Direct our in-house design team, overseeing creative marketing ideation and the execution of marketing and branding initiatives.
  • Develop compelling messaging and strategic communications for the firm, including executive communications, brand positioning, thought leadership, media relations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to contribute to new business development through creative marketing approaches.
  • Build and grow relationships with media, industry leaders, and other influential stakeholders that advance firm’s objectives.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members while fostering collaboration and a culture of excellence.
  • Set Invariant’s annual marketing strategy, priorities, budget, calendar, and performance goals.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategic marketing, brand strategy, communications, public affairs, or corporate affairs
  • Demonstrated success developing integrated marketing and communications strategies that achieve measurable business objectives.
  • Exceptional judgment, executive presence, and ability to influence senior leaders, both internally and externally.
  • Established relationships with media and industry leaders that translate into firm visibility.
  • Fluency in today's owned-channel marketing environment — content strategy, digital publishing, SEO, and audience-building — and how it applies to a relationship-driven, client services firm.
  • Experience leading internal communications, with the ability to direct a manager-level team member on day-to-day execution in this area.
  • Outstanding writer, editor, and researcher with a high bar for quality and results.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, balancing multiple workstreams and competing deadlines with precision.
  • A self-starter who can perform under pressure and thrive in an unpredictable work schedule.
  • History of building collaborative, high-performing teams.

Preferred

  • Experience marketing a professional or client services firm (law, consulting, communications, public affairs, finance, investor relations, or a related sector) is strongly preferred.
