About Pour Out Project

Pour Out Project (POP) is a growing nonprofit organization based in the Upstate of South Carolina. Our mission is to empower other nonprofits and ministries by providing strategic support, resources, and services that help them grow, operate more efficiently, and multiply their mission impact. Since launching in early 2025, POP has partnered with dozens of Upstate organizations to strengthen their operations and expand their community reach.

Position Overview

The Community Engagement Intern will play a vital role in expanding Pour Out Project’s local partnerships and community presence. This position is ideal for students or recent graduates who are passionate about nonprofit work, community development, and building meaningful relationships. Interns will gain hands-on experience in outreach, event coordination, donor stewardship, and strategic communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help identify and cultivate relationships with local businesses, organizations, and individuals that align with POP’s mission.
  • Collaborate on communication strategies including social media content, newsletters, and outreach materials.
  • Support donor appreciation and stewardship efforts.
  • Collect data and feedback from community engagement initiatives to improve strategies.
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating meetings with community partners and supporters.
  • Participate in mentorship and feedback sessions with POP leadership.
  • General operations and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for community service and nonprofit work.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in communications, marketing, business, nonprofit management, or a related field.

Internship Details

This is a non-paid internship with flexible hours (approximately 10–30 per week). Interns who excel in this program may be offered a part-time or full-time paid position with Pour Out Project upon completion of the internship. Participants will receive mentorship, professional development opportunities, and the chance to make a tangible impact in the Upstate community.

  • Confidentiality: Interns must maintain strict confidentiality regarding donor information, internal communication, and organizational strategies.
  • Professionalism: Interns are expected to demonstrate punctuality, respect, and collaboration in all interactions.
  • Integrity: Interns are expected to reflect POP’s values, maintaining integrity and ethical conduct in all actions.
  • Social Media Use: Interns must use social media responsibly, avoiding disclosure of any internal or donor-related information.
  • Attendance: Adherence to scheduled work hours and communication regarding absences is required.
  • Mentorship & Learning: Interns will have an assigned mentor and are expected to actively participate in mentorship sessions.
  • Program Completion: Each intern will participate in an exit review to share feedback and discuss potential next opportunities within Pour Out Project.
