Own and execute a multichannel content strategy for the Museum, coordinating storytelling, multimedia creation, and cross‑functional collaboration across exhibits, education, visitor services, fundraising, membership and events.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation & Storytelling: Develop engaging content that brings the Museum’s collections, exhibits, historical artifacts, programs and community stories to life through social media, short-form video, email and campaign materials.
  • Multimedia Management: Plan, create and schedule content across priority media platforms; manage audience engagement; promote events to strengthen relationships with visitors, members and the community.
  • Graphics Design: Produce quarterly publications, promotional materials and support for exhibits.
  • Marketing: Support paid search, digital and print campaigns designed to reach prospective visitors and expand awareness of the Museum.
  • Website Content & SEO: Maintain and update website content and apply search engine optimization practices that strengthen FLBM’s digital visibility.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Track performance across website, email, social media, membership and fundraising activities; translate results into clear reporting; and recommend practical improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with staff and volunteers across exhibits, education, visitor services, fundraising, membership and events to ensure communications support Museum priorities.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • An associate degree or equivalent experience in education, fine art, photography, creative writing, museum studies or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in digital marketing, communications, public relations, nonprofit outreach, museum communications, tourism marketing or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt content for different audiences and communication channels.
  • Experience creating and managing content for social media, email newsletters, websites and digital campaigns.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms, content management systems, social media scheduling tools, basic design tools and analytics platforms.
  • An understanding of basic SEO principles and digital audience engagement.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently in a small-team environment while collaborating effectively with staff, volunteers and external partners.

Preferred

  • An associate degree or equivalent experience in education, fine art, photography, creative writing, museum studies or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with museums, cultural organizations, nonprofits, tourism, education or other mission-driven community organizations is preferred.
  • Proficiency with graphic design and media editing tools such as Canva, Adobe applications or similar platforms.
