Responsibilities

• Provide scripting support to the OLPA, including writing treatments and full scripts.
• Conduct required background research and interviews to inform script development.
• Serve as lead writer on select projects while coordinating closely with OLPA and NSF staff.
• Collaborate with university researchers, public information officers, and other stakeholders as needed.
• Develop scripts that clearly and accurately communicate science news, concepts, NSF programs, and initiatives.
• Translate complex scientific information into compelling, creative, and easy-to-understand video content.
• Adapt scripts for diverse audiences, including various age groups and potentially children.
• Employ a range of storytelling styles, including informative, narrative, and humor-based approaches, as appropriate.
• Produce concise scripts, typically under four minutes in length and often significantly shorter.
• Set-up and breakdown of equipment, sets and props

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in each of the following: video production, editing, and post-production.
• Setting lighting, doing videography and audio recording in studio and onsite locations
• Directing non-professional talent
• Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro editing software and AfterEffects
• Intermediate-level skills in Adobe Photoshop
• Integrating on-camera and narration voices, music, and sound effects during editing process
• Leading a crew in setup and operation of cameras, switcher and web streaming equipment for on-location productions
