Job Description

About Rex.zone
Rex.zone connects specialized engineering talent with remote roles across autonomy, robotics, and AI/ML production systems. Teams hiring through Rex.zone span tech startups, automotive robotics programs, and engineering organizations building planning stacks, simulation tooling, and safety-focused evaluation.
Role Overview
In this Remote, US-based full-time role, you will build algorithms that generate safe, feasible vehicle trajectories in real time for ADAS/AV systems. The work spans behavior planning, path planning, trajectory optimization, collision checking, and tight integration with perception, localization, and controls, validated through closed-loop simulation and scenario-based testing.
What You Will Do
  • Design and implement motion planning and trajectory generation modules for automotive robotics
  • Develop behavior planning and constraint-based planning policies for dynamic road scenes
  • Integrate planning with perception and localization outputs and coordinate interfaces with controls
  • Build and run scenario-based testing in simulation to validate safety, comfort, and robustness
  • Tune cost functions and constraints for real-time feasibility and performance
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for planning failures using logs, metrics, and visualization
  • Collaborate with systems, controls, and infrastructure engineers to improve runtime performance
  • Document planning assumptions, interfaces, and evaluation results to support QA and safety reviews
Required Qualifications
  • Mid-senior experience shipping robotics or autonomy features
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
  • Hands-on experience with A*, RRT/RRT*, lattice planning, spline optimization, and/or MPC
  • Understanding of vehicle kinematics/dynamics, constraints, and safety considerations
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2 (or comparable robotics middleware)
  • Ability to design evaluation metrics, run ablation studies, and communicate tradeoffs in reviews
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in ADAS or autonomous driving stacks
  • Familiarity with simulation tooling, replay, and scenario generation
  • Experience profiling and optimizing real-time systems
  • Knowledge of safety validation approaches and multi-agent interaction
Compensation
Competitive hourly base pay: $30–$50 per hour (USD).
How To Apply
Apply via Rex.zone with a resume highlighting motion planning ownership, trajectory optimization work, and scenario-based evaluation results. Include links to relevant publications, open-source contributions, or technical portfolios when available.
