Job Summary

Own media-relations workflow to ensure timely, accurate coverage and clear, cross-channel information flow to the public, press, and internal staff.

  • Draft materials, coordinate events, and research MTA operations as part of a focused communications program.
  • Field media inquiries, issue clearances, and route calls to the appropriate contacts to protect operational messaging.
  • Prepare daily press digests and after-hours coverage to support a 24/7 newsroom mindset.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Draft press materials, assist with media events, and research MTA operations.
  • Direct media inquiries, grant press clearances to specific locations, and route media calls.
  • Assist with research and tasks for special projects on an as-needed basis.
  • Work evening hours to prepare summaries of broadcast or published news and daily press office activity, including potential late hours for breaking news.
  • Starting work early to prepare daily print/online and TV press coverage digests for staff distribution.
  • Disseminate information to the public via the MTA's social media platforms.
  • Manage and maintain press release and internal distribution lists.
