Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy for the College
  • Serve as the project manager for the College’s day-to-day marketing and communication responsibilities as well as long-term efforts directed by college leadership
  • Collaborate with MCEE colleagues on undergraduate and graduate student recruitment, alumni and donor relations, brand development and positioning, internal communication, content and digital strategy in line with the College’s plans
  • Manage relationships with various internal and external stakeholders and create content in coordination with MCEE for the College’s academic programs, student organizations, alumni programs and related programs
  • Support the creation and editing of university-wide communication
  • Supervise interns and student workers as necessary
  • Collaborate with College leadership and MCEE to build and enhance a sub-brand and set of positioning themes to guide content strategy
  • Coordinate digital advertising and purchasing
  • Manage college/unit websites
  • Oversee marketing campaigns for undergraduate, graduate, and online programs, managing both inbound and outbound strategies
  • Collaborate closely with the UM Alumni Association to plan, execute, and amplify alumni communication and engagement efforts
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and author for all College internal campus-wide announcements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the College with the Office of the Provost to develop content for Academic Affairs communication

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of work experience in marketing and communications
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, develop, schedule, and deploy digital content
  • Demonstrate proficiency with written and verbal communication and social media content development
  • Ability to work with students both as employees, sources and subjects
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and maintain good communication and relationships with various stakeholders and internal customers
  • Ability to establish and maintain clear lines of communication with students, campus departments, outside agencies, businesses and the public
  • Ability to supervise multiple projects, establish production schedules, set priorities, manage deadlines and assign various tasks
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, sensitivity and professionalism
  • Finalists for the position will be required to complete a timed writing and editing test

Preferred

  • Experience in higher education communication
  • Broad knowledge of the University of Montana and Missoula communities
  • Working knowledge of media production and graphic design software
  • Knowledge of web and graphic design programs
  • Knowledge of communicating applied and basic science research.
