Job Summary

Own and execute the Foundation's strategic communications, brand stewardship, media relations, and digital engagement programs across multiple donor and Friends groups, while coordinating events, content, and advocacy with tight budget and cross‑department collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a multi-channel communications and public relations strategy for the Foundation and its Friends groups (Friends of the Arboretum, Friends of the Farmstead, and Friends of Overland Park Arts) in order to support the organization’s fundraising and advocacy efforts.
  • Serve as the Foundation’s brand champion and ensure adherence to brand standards in all organizational communications.
  • Serve as the Foundation’s primary spokesperson and engage local media outlets to help tell the Foundation’s story and bring awareness to its mission.
  • Manage social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn) for the Foundation and its Friends groups.
  • Utilize Constant Contact to develop and send email news blasts and newsletters to donors and members of Friends of the Arboretum, Friends of the Farmstead, and Friends of Overland Park Arts, and event-specific communications such as reminders and post-event surveys.
  • Develop digital guides for special events as needed.
  • Utilize Google Forms to create surveys and other response forms as requested.
  • Serve as the webmaster for the Foundation’s website (artsandrec-op.org), and the organizational point of contact for the third-party website designer and host.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local media partners and social media influencers.
  • Ensure that marketing and communications strategies are executed within budget and negotiate barter agreements with media partners and influencers when appropriate.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of two years of related experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record in utilizing Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn to promote a business or organization.
  • Experience in developing and executing strategic marketing plans.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
  • Proficiency in WordPress and/or other website content management system.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and/or other graphic design platform.

Preferred

  • four-year college degree preferred.
